PASTORAL TEAM

Hello! Born and raised in Boulder County, Colorado, I now live in Livermore. Before pastoring, I worked as a plumber's apprentice (which might explain something of my focus on us being apprentices of Jesus). My wife and I moved to the Tri-Valley in October of 2009 to join the pastoral team of VCC. I became the lead pastor in 2015. My wife (Marla) and I have four kids: 1 boy and 3 girls. I am a bit of a book nerd, so talk of Tolkien, Lewis, Dostoevsky, Eliot, O'Connor, Peterson and others are likely to happen at some point! In my opinion, theology should have some poetry to it. Jesus is beautiful to me. He is my great joy and only hope.
Heath Hardesty
Lead Pastor

As a Bay Area native, I grew up in San Mateo, and have been married to the love of my life, Jennifer, for 32 years. We met while I was serving on staff with Cru at Sacramento State. I graduated from UC Santa Barbara and later with my Master of Arts in Ministry from Western Seminary, and I've served in a variety of pastoral roles before landing at VCC in 2022. Our son, Zach, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Vanguard University in 2024 and now teaches middle school history at Valley Christian School in Dublin. We also have a Red Fox Labrador named Ruby. Together, we enjoy hiking, strolling along the beach, and cheering on the San Francisco Giants.

Executive Pastor

I studied Bible and Theology at Lee University, where I felt a strong calling to serve the Church through worship and discipleship. Over the years, I’ve led in a variety of church settings, always with a heart to help people encounter the presence of God.
Whether it’s leading our church in worship, writing new songs, or building into our team, my desire is to cultivate a worship culture that is rooted in God’s truth and alive with passion for His presence. Outside of church life, I enjoy golfing, songwriting, reading, and exploring the outdoors with my family.

Worship Arts Pastor

Hello! Born and raised in Pleasanton, I came on staff in VCC's Student Ministry back in 2012, and I've absolutely loved following Jesus alongside our students. I earned my Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Seminary in 2023, and I live in Pleasanton with my wife Jill and our four kids. I love Formula 1, reading fiction, playing board games, roasting & drinking coffee, and smoking meats. I spend a lot of time thinking about the dynamics of following Jesus as you move through different seasons of life, and about the mysterious relationship between suffering and grace.
Jake Lemmer
Student Ministry Pastor

I am the proud husband of Alison & papa to Alex, Dezirae, Caetlyn, Abigail & Wesley. We currently live in Discovery Bay but I was born in Des Moines, IA and came to California by way of Kentucky where I grew up with parents in ministry. I love music...(making it and producing it), love being able to serve our family here with my technical skills and love creating an excitement and desire in others to use God given talents and desires to serve Him and our church community.

Hi! I was born and raised in Pleasanton. I’ve been a part of VCC my whole life. I grew up in the children’s ministry and attended the middle and high school ministries as a student. I was a manager at the Meadowlark Dairy, where I worked for five years. In May of 2025, I graduated from Biola University with a bachelor’s degree in Biblical & Theological Studies with a concentration in apologetics. In the fall of 2025, I started my master’s degree at Western Seminary. I love learning new things and being able to bring my school studies to my vocation as well. It is a joy to communicate the beauty of the Scriptures to our middle school students and see them marvel at the wonder of the Bible.
I believe the gospel of Jesus Christ is not just good news, but it is good news to students in the painful grind of middle school. Their loving Father looks on them with delight as beloved children. God has invited us to taste the sweetness of new life in Christ and it is quite a privilege to deliver that news to middle school students who need to hear that they are loved just as much as anyone else.

I grew up in Danville and graduated from Cal Poly SLO, where I met my husband Jim. As young marrieds, we helped plant a church in San Ramon and enjoyed rich fellowship there while we raised our two beautiful kids, Jane & Joey. I have worked with students and families since I came to faith in college which led us to homeschooling our now adult children. We love our home in Livermore and enjoy hiking, coffee shops and outdoor adventures. When I'm home you'll find me baking, gardening, and discovering where our next adventure will take us! I am excited to serve with the wonderful Kids team here at VCC as the Special Events Coordinator.

Hi! I was born and raised in the mountains of Big Bear Lake in Southern California and moved to Pleasanton in the summer of 2024. I attended California Baptist University, where I earned my degree in Health Science with plans to become a Physician Assistant—until the Lord led me in a different direction. I felt called into Kids Ministry, where I now have the joy of working with children and partnering with parents to help kids grow in their understanding of Jesus, build a strong foundation of faith from an early age, and, of course, have a lot of fun along the way!

I was born and raised in one of the main southern cities in China, Guangzhou. My journey with our Lord started when I was granted a visa to pursue my graduate study at the University of Arizona. I became a Christian during my study at the university. Under His grace and guidance, I finished my degree, and moved to the Bay Area with my husband, Jia. While raising our two daughters here, I served at church as a Children’s Sunday School teacher for more than 20 years. During this time, I also served as a Children’s Sunday School coordinator and youth leader at the Chinese Church in Christ of Tri Valley in Pleasanton. As the founder of Shining Light Preschool in 1999, I have been truly blessed by the relationships I have developed with teachers & SLP families. Shining Light is a great place for your child to spend their preschool years learning and growing — all the while getting to know (and trust!) a great big God who loves an itty-bitty me!
The Lord has done great things for us… and we are glad!

ELDERS

God used Valley Community Church to bring my wife, Tiffany, and I to faith over 25 years ago. We were blessed to raise our children – Ryan, Tate, and Hope – in our church. I’ve served as an usher, deacon, coach, and youth leader. God redeemed part of my younger years by also calling me to lead a youth baseball and softball ministry, STRETCH. He’s been nudging me towards a new season of ministry with a desire to serve the church more directly and actively. I’m humbled and excited to be an elder and hope to serve and love well, by grace through faith, for His glory.

I’ve been part of the VCC family since 2019. I was born and raised in the Bay Area. Met the love of my life, Christi, at Cal Poly, SLO and we’ve been married for over 35 years. God has blessed us with two sons and two daughters. I have served in a pastoral role in several churches prior to joining VCC and Christi has served in VCC’s Disabilities Ministry. It is a privilege and an honor to serve the saints here at VCC. My prayer is that I would be used by God, in whatever capacity, to shepherd His blood-bought saints into a rich and joyful relationship with their Lord and Savior for the glory of God and the expansion of His kingdom.

My wife Allison and I have been blessed to be at VCC for over 20 years. We’ve raised our four children here, and I am blessed to be serving on the Elder board.
